Doctor Who Gadgets

When Doctor Who first aired on the BBC in 1963 not only had Star Trek not been launched but man hadn't even landed on the moon, and the spaceships that were to carry him there six years later had less computing power running them than your average games console today. Hardly surprising then that there were actually few Doctor Who gadgets around in those early days. Indeed, it wasn't until Jon Pertwee took over the role after the Tardis was stranded on earth as a punishment from the Timelords for the second Doctor meddling in the business of others that gadgets really started appearing on the show.

Sadly, by the time of Tom Baker there were too many Doctor Who gadgets that got the Doctor put of too many near impossible situations, the worst offender being that pesky metal dog K9, perhaps the ultimate gadget. Back in those early days you would be lucky to get hold of a metal Dalek with wheels that would squeak along the floor.
